JULY – SUMMER SAFETY & HEAT ILLNESS PROTECTION
Staying Safe During the Summer Heat
During the hot summer months, high temperatures and humidity can increase the
risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Infants,
young children, older adults, and individuals with chronic medical conditions
are especially vulnerable. Staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing,
limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, using sunscreen,
and spending time in air-conditioned or shaded areas are simple but important
ways to stay safe.
Heat waves can be particularly dangerous for seniors in our community. Older adults may not feel thirsty as often and can become dehydrated more quickly. Take time to check on elderly family members, friends, and neighbors to ensure they have plenty of water, access to a cool environment, and any assistance they may need during periods of extreme heat. A simple phone call or visit can make a meaningful difference. Camcare Medical encourages everyone to practice summer safety, stay hydrated, and help protect the most vulnerable members of our community throughout the season.
